Dear members . We had a lady called Winifred Riddle join the Community page a couple of days ago. She lives in New York and her photo (if indeed it was a genuine photo) was rather dubious in that she wasn't wearing a lot apart from a basque and a rather provocative look, so I didn't respond with my usual welcome message. Last night I was browsing the site and saw that she had sent a message to every single member. I didn't open mine but the opening sentence was about a free download of ringtones........ which I thought rather odd and perhaps a "come on" to get members to open the message. I took an executive decision to ban her from the site straight away before any of our bona fide members opened their message and perhaps unwittingly received a virus or an obscene message. If I was mistaken, then I owe her an apology but at the same time with an "open to all" site such as this, one can never be too careful.
Just an after-thought regarding the above. If you should receive a message on the Community page, check out that it is a current member with a believable profile before you open the message. If you have any doubts at all, check with us first by leaving a message on our page. We, the administrators, will ensure that we check the site daily to make sure any unwanted "members" are banned immediately. I have to say though, that we have never had a problem until yesterday so please don't be put off by this one incident. Continue to enjoy the site as much as before, just be careful not to include email addresses or phone numbers. If you want to email another member, leave a message on my page or Magde's page requesting us to pass on your email address privately, or better still, join the Anglophones association where you will have free access to all members' details. Happy posting!
