Hey Margaret! We were just talking about you today and wondering what was happening! I only have experience of France Telecom and Orange who are not wonderful but at least can't blame any other server for their problems! Do contact me when you are...

Hello All, We will be finally arriving in Pau on 20th of this month after much uncertainty. We have found a house to rent in Uzos. Now I need some advice - we need to sort out Telephone/internet/TV - can anyone recommend who is best (and speediest...

Margaret, I am not sure how to say this without seeming pushy, but you have found one! My wife, Sharon, and I bought a well-established agency in Pau just last January. And whilst we are also relatively new to the area, we would be more than hap...

Can anyone recommend a good estate agent in Pau? We will be looking for rental initially but are interested in buying when we know a bit more about the area. Thanks in advance

Congratulations, Grandma! You must all be thrilled at the new arrival. That's great that you'll be mobile while you're here as the walks are usually out in the countryside. If you'd like to come over my way (east of town) we could meet up for lunc...

Hi Sharon, I would love to meet you during my stay. Greg will be working all week so I plan to do lots of driving arround and looking. A walk would be great too! We will probably be staying at the Parc Beaumont but that is to be confirmed. The gra...

Hi Margaret. There may well be a walk planned during your visit. I should know within the next day or so so will let you know. Unfortunately the monthly coffee morning is on 16 June so you'll miss that. If you'd like to meet me for a coffee and a ...

Hi Margaret. I sent you an email a few days ago about your visit. Did you see it? If not, I'll send it again. It was telling you about the walk on 8th June etc. Looking forward to meeting you when you come to Pau.

Take a look on the Forum under APP for the explanation about Winifred Riddle. In short, I banned her from the site which is why you can't find the message. I don't think you would have wanted to anyway!

The only info I can come up with at the moment is that we definitely steered clear of the west of Pau as there is a large plant (gas I think) at Lacq and when the wind is in the Pau direction, it can get quite nauseous. If you choose the south of Pau, direction Gan and Oloron, the traffic can get quite heavy at times. Why don't you start a discussion on the forum and that way you might get the views of other members? Any sign of the granchild yet?

Hi Margaret. I will do some research on your questions and get back to you! We actually live 10 minutes from Soumoulou on the way to Tarbes. We are in a village setting so very quiet but that leaves us 30 minutes from the centre of Pau. It depends what you want. We wanted the peace of the countryside within striking distance of a big town and that's what we've got. We didn't want to live on a "lottisement" (housing estate) because everyone is too close to each other so we have loads of space with a spectacular view of the snow covered Pyrenees and an uninteruppted view of the countryside. Let me know where you think you might want to live and I'll try to help if I can.

Hi Margaret. I expect you are up to your eyes in packing at the moment. If there is anything we can help you with, just let us know.

Hi Margaret. Welcome to our Community page! You will find the Anglophones association very useful in helping you to settle in to life in France. We have almost 100 paid up members (23 euros a year for families) and most of us are able to help out with recommending doctors, dentists, reasonably priced French courses etc. Do keep in touch and I look forward to meeting you later in the year.
